Gita Subramony is deeply interested in how humans interact with their built environment and the social outcomes of how we build and design our spaces. She is a clean and renewable energy consultant with over 10 years of experience in emerging technologies, distributed energy and on-site generation, energy program design and evaluation, building science, energy policy, survey and interview design and analysis, stakeholder and customer engagement, and energy technology market assessments. She has years of experience managing large and diverse teams of engineers and consultants to implement and evaluate clean energy projects and programs. Her background in urban planning and arts helps her focus on creating compelling narratives from quantitative and qualitative research. Outside of work Gita enjoys riding her bicycle, playing soccer, and learning to play piano.

Heat Pump and Integrated Controls Performance Review

Heat pumps are on the rise in the Northeast, with Massachusetts offering incentives for electrifying home heating and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. In this case study, ILLUME examines user and contractor experiences with heat pump integrated controls (ICs), providing insights to enhance integration with existing heating systems and heat pump adoption. Integrated controls are used to automatically switch between heat pumps and the pre-existing fossil fuel heating system to maximize comfort, efficiency, and bill savings.
