What is your role at ILLUME?

My title is Senior Research Analyst.

Where are you from and where do you live now?

Madison, Wisconsin, by way of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Who or what inspires you in your work?

My daughter and my nephews. Things can look pretty bleak sometimes – I like to think the work we do at ILLUME is helping to make sure that there are still some good things left to fight for once it’s their turn.

Do you have any pets?

One dog, Loki.

What are your favorite hobbies?

Hiking, kayaking, anything I can do to get myself outdoors. I like to think that I’m more handy than I really am, so I enjoy getting myself in over my head with home renovation projects that I have no business attempting. I’ve been building a fence in my backyard for about four months now, and it’s going…pretty okay.

What’s your favorite quote or motto?

Just because you can’t do everything, doesn’t mean that you should do nothing – or something to that effect. —Edward Everett Hale

What’s the worst job you’ve ever had?

I have legitimately enjoyed every job I’ve ever had. My worst work memory though is unclogging a toilet at 8:00 AM on New Year’s Day.

What is the best concert you ever attended?

Now that’s a tough one – off the top of my head I’d say My Morning Jacket at a music festival back in 2016.

What is your superpower?

I can say something in 40 words that another person could say in four.

If you could have chosen another career path, what would you be doing?

Park Ranger in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.
