This ILLUME white paper will build from the research and experience in three northeastern states to identify barriers to participation in energy efficiency programs for multifamily homes.
ILLUME was commissioned by a utility client to conduct research on their customers, with a particular focus on renters, that are not participating in their programs to understand the barriers to participation. In this case study, read ILLUME’s recommendations for how the utility might extend its reach and engage those customers more.
As we consider how to engage nonparticipants in energy efficiency programming through the lens of equity, doing so is becoming more crucial. Barriers discovered across the following groups—renters, owners, property managers, and income-qualified customers—will be discussed in this white paper, which was presented at the 2022 IEPEC Conference.
